What's happening?
Here is where you will find out what has been happening in class
The pictures mostly speak for themselves. The students were super pumped about this day to read as many books as they possibly could. Our goal between the two classes was 100 books and the students crush that with 142. The student still continued on with their regular math and science lessons in there switch class so they read these books only during their ELA time. Check out the slideshow and then read below for more. Mr. Faison even took the opportunity to be one of our guest readers on this day. In fact he was a guest reader in nearly all of the classes in our school. He chose a book that matched our day in history, voting day. He read a text called If I Ran for President, which the children really got into. We didn't really talk about that day's voting only to mention that is was such a great privilege that even Mr. Faison's son drove home from college to vote. Mostly we focused on the process to become president. In one part of the text we even giggled when the child who was thinking about running for president told us in the text that it required kissing a lot of babies and taking photos. LOL

oh my how they still love to listen to stories. I cannot begin this post without first thinking all of the parents who came in to read to the students. It was a real treat that you took time out of your day to spend a few moments with our class. The children really loved it. We listen to and discussed many great stories. We even practiced our written response skills. Monday was a great day.
. What a fun week we had planned for this week! It mostly involved a celebration of our young readers at Apex Elementary school. We celebrated national young readers week with a collection of four days of fun reading activities. On Monday, we had guest readers come into the classroom on guest readers day. On Tuesday it was read all day day in which the children got to read in various locations and various manners throughout the day. Wednesday was book character day. We so many fantastic book characters that the students were dressed up as. It all culminated on Thursday when we had a book tasting in which the students got to sample books from different genres.
